An apparent global outage left thousands of Microsoft Corp. customers without access to Microsoft 365 and its Teams app on Monday, with some users reporting they were having problems using Outlook and Exchange.
The software giant posted a message on X early Monday that it was assessing “an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar.”
“We’ve identified a recent change which we believe has resulted in impact. We’ve started to revert the change and are investigating what additional actions are required to mitigate the issue,” Microsoft added in a subsequent post.
Microsoft said it had deployed a fix that had reached about 98% of “affected environments.”
Still, in an afternoon update, Microsoft 365 acknowledged it was “facing delays” in addressing the issues.
It wasn’t until Tuesday afternoon, when the company announced full restoration of services. At the outage’s peak, Downdetector showed more than 5,000 user-reported problems.
“We’re facing delays in our recovery efforts and are taking immediate action to address them,” Microsoft 365 status wrote on X Monday afternoon. “We understand the significant impact of this event to your businesses and are working to provide relief as soon as possible.”
